Description
Lilac malanga is native to the tropical zone of America, probably from the West Indies where there is the greatest number of types. It is a herbaceous plant, without the aerial stem and can reach up to 2 m high. The leaves come directly from an underground stem called a corm, in which the lateral and horizontal secondary corms called cormels or rhizome are formed, which are edible.
